Forgot Your Vietnam Visa? What to Do at the Airport

It happens more often than you'd think: you arrive at the check-in desk, the agent asks for your Vietnam visa, and you don't have one. Airlines will not let you board without a valid visa or exemption. Don't panic — there is often still time.
Step 1: Ask how much time you have
Ask the check-in agent when the counter closes. Most counters close 45–60 minutes before departure for international flights. If you have at least 1–2 hours, an emergency e-visa may still be possible during working hours.
Step 2: Have these ready on your phone
- A photo of your passport data page
- A portrait photo (stand against a white wall, no glasses)
- Your arrival airport in Vietnam
Step 3: Apply for an emergency e-visa
Choose Emergency (1–2 hours) processing. Our team prepares the application immediately and follows up until it's approved, then emails you the e-visa PDF.
Important: emergency processing depends on the immigration office's working hours (Vietnam time, GMT+7). Contact us first if it's a weekend, a public holiday or late at night.
Step 4: Show the e-visa at check-in
A PDF on your phone is usually accepted, but a printed copy is safer. Check that your name, passport number and date of birth exactly match your passport.
If you miss your flight
Ask the airline about rebooking on the next flight. Once your e-visa is approved, you can fly — make sure your new arrival date is on or after the date on your e-visa.
